Ski Bum Reviews K2 Recon 120 MV GW 2022 Ski Boot Review
Contents
The K2 Recon 120 MV is in a class of its own when it comes to advanced-level ski boots. Packed with technological features that blend together to create a highly dynamic boot, K2 specifically incorporated a new construction that adds exceptional strength and power. Starting with K2’s PowerFuse Spyne Technology that significantly enhances sustained performance and responsiveness, no matter where you are skiing on the mountain. Together with the energy interlock system, the level of strength and power that is added to the boot maximizes the overall flex efficiency, as well as lateral stiffness. By incorporating a rivet-free technology, the cuff and shell are flawlessly integrated, ultimately putting less stress on the boot material itself and making way for a smooth, progressive flex and immediate response. With the PrecisionFit Pro liner and Powerlite Shell, you have the ability to heat mold these crucial components in order to better fit the unique shape of your foot. Not to mention the shell is designed with ultra-lightweight materials plus optimized wall thickness profiling. This leaves you with a boot that is not only effortless to control but stiff enough to provide the power that advanced-level skiers are seeking. Add the 120 flex to the mix and you will be able to drive those skis powerfully through any terrain with maximum responsiveness. When you’ve skied all of your favorite lines and you’re ready to regale your epic stories from the day, the fast fit entry feature makes for undemanding entry and exit. The K2 Recon 120 MV screams high-performance and dynamic power.
Construction
Powerlite Shell
The totally new shell is purpose-built to result in the best skiing, lightest weight boots ever produced. Made with four different stiffnesses of TPU and optimized wall thickness profiling, the Powerlite Shell achieves a paradoxical balance of lightweight agility and power. The resulting boots weigh in as some of the lightest alpine and freeride on the market, yet they ski with all the power and drive of heavier boots. Rounded out with FastFit ease of entry and full TPU boot fitter customization capabilities, the Recon, Anthem, and Mindbender boot collections have raised the bar and proven that truly less is more.
Powerfuse Spyne
A rear co-injected “Y” shaped support that adds strength and power to the Energy Interlock in order to maximize fore/aft flex efficiency and lateral stiffness for responsiveness in every type of terrain.
Precisionfit Pro
Pre-molded and Lasted with Ultralon heat moldable foams. Features an asymmetric tongue, pre molded ankle pockets and a high density power collar for a firm but comfortable performance fit.
Fit and Entry
Softer TPU designed into the instep area of Powerlite shell for quick and easy entry and exit.
Energy Interlock
A rivet-free technology that integrates the cuff and shell, putting less stress on the boot’s material and produces a smoother, progressive flex.
Fully Heat Moldable
Both the boot's shell and cuff are capable of being heat-molded to a variety of foot shapes for a true custom fit.
GripWalk Soles
Removable and interchangeable ISO 9523 alpine rockered soles collaboratively designed to work with Marker’s Grip Walk binding system for better grip and added comfort when walking and standing in boots, but doesn’t compromise the power transmission and release function between the boot and binding when skiing. Preinstalled.
